MARY & JOSEPH, FIGURES OF HOPE

Did you know that within two days this week, Pope Francis pointed to two Advent figures of hope? They are Mary and Joseph.

Year of Saint Joseph, from Dec. 8, 2020 to Dec. 8, 2021 marking the 150th anniversary of the declaration of Saint Joseph as Patron of the Universal Church by Blessed Pope Pius IX on Dec. 8, 1870. It coincides with Jubilee 2021, marking the 40th anniversary of our Diocese of San Jose.

This Dec. 12, 2020 marks the 125th anniversary of the Coronation of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico City on Dec. 12, 1895. Pope Francis granted to all Catholic faithful of the world the possibility of obtaining a plenary indulgence on December 12, even while the faithful remain at home. Details are in an article written by yours truly on The Valley Catholic online newspaper.
